Detoxification

Taking that first step towards the healing that you need can be difficult. No one should face the process of recovery from drug or alcohol addiction alone, especially not our first responders. That’s why First Responders First has created a space with comfort, safety, and confidentiality that makes healing possible.

What to expect from First Responders First medically supervised detox

Upon arrival at our first-class care facility, our highly credentialed medical team (which includes our on-staff M.D. and psychiatrists) will conduct an examination and evaluation to determine how advanced the individual’s addiction is and develop a treatment plan that’s tailored to them.

Our detox treatment is built on the insight that civilian treatment methods are not sufficient to address the unique needs and experiences of first responders. The typical understanding of detox might bring to mind cafeteria food, bunk beds, and institutional living, but you won’t find that here. We offer the highest-quality medical care in luxurious private accommodations located near the beautiful Angeles National Forest.

Customized treatment for each first responder

Everyone’s addiction recovery journey is different, which is why everyone’s treatment plan is customized for them. First Responders First employs over a dozen treatment modalities to help our first responders on the road to recovery. Here are just some of what you can expect from your detox journey at FRF.

Medication Management

Our on-staff medical doctor meets personally with every resident to establish a treatment plan that includes an initial evaluation of the patient's need for psychotropic medications, the provision of a prescription, and ongoing medical monitoring related to the patient's use of the medication.

Equine Therapy

Working with horses may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about inpatient addiction treatment, but equine therapy has grown to prominence as a surprisingly effective treatment. Recent studies have even shown that equine therapy is effective for individuals struggling with substance abuse.

Group Therapy

One of the many things that makes First Responders First a truly special place is the fact that you are surrounded by people who understand what you’re going through. If you’ve ever attended a group therapy session and felt out of place because you’re a first responder, then you’ll be refreshed by the community we’ve built here.

Expressive Art Therapy

Expressive art therapy at First Responders First uses psychology in combination with the healing power of art creation — be it music, theater, poetry, dance, or any other artistic form — to help first responders on their road to recovery.

Treatment is where healing begins

If you or a first responder you know is struggling with addiction, we are here to help. At the core of our philosophy is the belief that first responders deserve the unique care that they need.
